About the Thomas Wall Trust
The Trust was created by deed poll in 1920 by Thomas Wall and the objects of the
Trust were set out in a Scheme of the High Court of Justice dated 15th December
1936- "The income of the charity shall be applied at the sole and unfettered
discretion of the Trustees in any matter which they should consider conducive to
the encouragement and assistance of educational work and social service".
Today the Trustees focus on grants to individuals who face barriers in their lives
and life chances, helping them to pursue technical or skill-based training which
will improve their prospects for paid work. Grants are also made to smaller charities
active in serving the social and/or educational needs of their communities, especially
where modest funding can make a real impact in improving the lives of local people.
The current Trustees are:
- Dr G M Copland CBE (Chairman)
- Mrs M A Barrie BA
- Mr P Bellamy BEd
- Mr C R Broomfield MA
- Ms A S Kennedy MA
- Ms A-M Martin MSc
- Mrs A Mullins BA
- Mrs P Morris MBA
- The Rev Dr R Waller MA MTh PhD
The Trust is administered on a part-time basis by staff from the Skinners’ Company,
under the direction of the Thomas Wall Trustees.
