Directions to Individual Applicants for Grants

.Since the funds of the Trust are limited, the Trustees will only consider applications for grants from students who can show real need for financial assistance towards the expenses of their course of education or training, and evidence will be required that the parents or family of the applicant are doing all in their power to assist.

.The applicant should complete the online application form for individuals, following carefully the instructions on the form. In entering the qualification level in the 'Course' section of the form, if your application is to support a postgraduate award and you are shortly to graduate, please select level 4 as your current highest qualification.

.In the Personal Section, the applicant is required to give a personal statement in support of the application. Please consider carefully your answer to this as the response is considered important by the Trustees.

.The applicant is required to provide details in the 'Referee' section  of some responsible person, not a relation, who knows him or her professionally/personally, and who can vouch for the applicant's qualities and suitability to receive an award from the Trust.

.In the Finance section a confidential financial statement has to be completed. If the applicant is under the age of 25 at the time of completing the application, details of the applicant’s parent or guardian who provided the information to complete the form must be included.

.If for any reason an applicant is unable to complete the online application form, a paper form can be obtained by sending an A4 self-addressed, stamped (large letter stamp) envelope to Professor G. Holt, Director, Thomas Wall Trust, PO Box 52781, London EC2P 2UT.
