For Individuals
1. I am travelling abroad for work experience/gap year. Can I apply for my travel
costs and/or fees ?
Unfortunately not. The Trust does not support projects outside of the UK.
2. There is an important conference I want to attend that will be particularly helpful
for my studies. Can I apply for the conference costs?
The Trust has other priorities for the distribution of its funds and therefore the
Trustees will not consider costs of attendance at conferences.
3. I want to pursue a part-time course. I have to study part-time because I need
to continue with a part-time job to support my family. Can I apply for a grant ?
Yes, Trustees look favourably on part-time courses which allow applicants to continue
in part-time employment.
4. I am starting a course in the next academic year. Can I apply a year before to
improve my chances of obtaining grant support?
Applications may only be made from 1st January for grants for courses
starting in the next academic year (normally September/October) and will be considered
as long as funds allow. Occasionally grants will be approved for courses starting
in the following January.
5. Can I apply for grant support for a second or subsequent year if I have already
started a course?
Yes, make application between 1st January and September/October when the
subsequent year begins.
For Charities
6. My charitable organisation applied and was successful in being awarded a grant
for a project. Can I apply again for another grant for my organisation?
The Trustees have decided that no charity will receive recurrent funding but successful
applicants may reapply after five years have elapsed.
7. My charity has established a nation-wide appeal for funding, would the Trust be
prepared to make a donation?
No, the application should be for a specific project.
8. My charity is established in the UK and provides educational/ training opportunities
in one or more countries abroad. Does the Trust consider supporting such projects?
No, only support for activities in the UK is provided
